Everyone who rides has dropped their beloved motorcycle at some stage and if they haven’t they probably will at some point. However, the idea of making such a mistake is to learn from it and stop making those same mistakes. We know this to be the case, so why does it keep happening?
Unfortunately it involves reliving the embarrassment and rewinding your steps before you dropped the bike and asking yourself what caused the bike to fall over. The motorbike is only stable in 3 places:
- On the side stand
- Travelling at speed, up right and in a straight line
- On the floor
So anything in between all of that, means there’s more risk of the bike falling over.
Most of us have a drop when we aren’t concentrating or when something unexpected happens. However, if you KEEP dropping your motorcycle, then there are a few fundamental issues. Are your handlebars straight when you stop? Are you using the front brake? Anything that causes the motorcycle to become unstable has the potential to cause the motorcycle to drop…
If this sounds like you, but you don’t know how to stop the bike from dropping, please get in touch!
